Growing up fast

The days and weeks are flying by. May is over and summer is practically here. Unfortunately for you, my readers, time gets away from me and I'm unable to keep up with this blog as much as I would like. But I'm here now...so cherish it.

My first Mother's Day was special. Kaname gave me a beautiful card and a night out with daddy for sushi. A big thanks to Aunt Val for babysitting...hope the peanut paid you well :) On the actual day we just spent quality time together and we took my Mom and Dad to the Whip Tavern for a yummy Mother's Day dinner. If you've never been there google it, you must go!

A week and a half later we celebrated my 27th birthday...one year closer to 30. Again, all I really wanted was some quality time with Kaname and Steve and that's what I got. . .and dinner @ Chili's. Just as a note the hard liquory beverages there aren't worth it...not even a little buzz.

Last week Kaname experienced her first real illness...the elusive GI bug. In adults it normally rears its ugly head for 24-48 hours but for the little miss it lasted 5 days. Steve was christened in to fatherhood when he picked her up and she vomited all down his shirtless back. Per Steve's mom, it's payback for all those years she cleaned up his projectile vomit. Don't worry I didn't escape the path of the vomiting baby and neither did our couch, our carpet, her crib, her bouncy seat, or her play gym. Kaname was introduced to Pedialyte and overall she handled it quite well. A lot better than mommy and daddy. She's doing much better now.

New developmental milestones: she's rolling over both ways, she grabs at/picks up/shakes toys, she's discovered her feet, and she sits up with support. She has her 4 month peds appt next week and after that we might be starting her on rice cereal. She's so smart and full of smiles!

For your enjoyment I have added a peanut slideshow to the page that I will try to continually update it.

And now that I'm finally allowed to talk about it...CONGRATULATIONS Megan & Adam! Nublet is due in November!

Classes start again for me next week so keep checking back...I'll try my best!

3 Months Already

Today is Kaname's 3 month birthday! Can you believe it already? She's changing so much everyday. She loves to "talk" and kick her legs all around. She'll hold objects in her hands and shakes them around. We're working on rolling over...she's done it once, but we haven't been able to reproduce it. And by some miracle she's pretty much sleeping through the night now...8-9 hours at a time. Yeah!

Saturday April 19 we had a welcoming party for Kaname at Andy & Val's. Thank you guys so much! And Mom & Dad Walls and Mom & Dad Wilson for all of your help. It was very nice and everyone that had not met her yet had the opportunity. The cupcakes (I can't remember where they were from) were freakin' spectacular. We missed you Aunt Jax & Uncle Tad!

We're having some issues with our current daycare...if you want more details you'll have to ask me later. So thankfully, Steve got a call that Gore Early Learning Center has a spot available as of June 30. Woo hoo...can't wait!

Last night was quite an experience for me...my first time watching Kaname and Kaylen all by myself. Makes me not want to have another one for a long time. It was quite a juggling act and then of course there was the major blowout that Kaylen had. It is much harder to change the diaper of a 17-month old than a 3-month old. They move all over the place, it's difficult to hold their legs up with one hand, and they're damn strong. I love you Kaylen and I'll watch you any time but I now see what I'm in store for. More power to you Bonnie & Steve!

We're busy, busy with work, hockey, and raising the little one. Summer classes start June 9...4 more classes to go. I should graduate next May. I'm also studying to take the exam for my critical care certification. Whew!

Well that's all for now...check back soon!

GO FLYERS!

Shots! Oh No!

Yesterday was Kaname's 2 mos pediatrician appointment. She is now 11lbs 10oz., 23.5 inches long. She's getting so adorably chubby! Unfortunately she had to get her first set of vaccinations at this appointment. She screamed and tears welled up in mommy's eyes but she really did a great job. Once the nurses were done she stopped crying, starting making happy noises and she really didn't fuss again.

I promised some new pics and here are a few including her easter outfit and pics of her beautiful nursery set...

And this one's for my co-worker Susan!

Daycare is going along well and Steve and I are starting to get used to life as parents. Her welcoming party is next Saturday, April 19, from 11a-4p. It is an open house. If you haven't RSVP'd yet it isn't too late!

April is a busy month for birthdays and anniversaries!

Happy Birthday going out to...Aunt Cathy, Bonnie, Val, Aunt Mildred, Megan, Tuttle, Dad Walls, & Aunt Jean!

Happy Anniversary...Mom & Dad Walls and Jaclyn & James!

And a special anniversary wish out to my hubby...although we no longer celebrate it April 8 was our 11 year dating anniversary. I love you!

This One's for Tuttle

Ok, ok...thanks to Adam Tuttle I'm keeping my weekly update promise. And it's been a big week!

Yesterday was the end of my babymoon...back to wiping adult butts! It was nice to be back among adults but I REALLY missed Kaname. I cried several times over the weekend at the thought of having to leave her at daycare. I knew she'd be well taken care of but...well, it was just tough to leave her. She didn't really seem to care but she is only 8 weeks old. The caregivers said she is a wonderful baby, relatively quiet except when she's hungry or gassy. She ate like a champ too! My biggest worry. I think over the next few weeks we'll settle into a nice routine and life might start to seem more normal again.

Work was like I'd never left. I walked into an assignment with an empty bed and consequently a 7:30am admission on my first day back. Thanks Monica! Well at least it got me back in to the swing of things. As many of you already know I've switched from 12 hour shifts to working 8 hour shifts. I think it will be strange being at work every day of the week but I do enjoy leaving work @ 3:30pm...it's almost like a half day to me and I have so much more energy left than when I worked a 12. I get to go home a play with my daughter, eat dinner with my husband, and still have time to clean the litter box, a toilet or two, and fold a load of laundry.

The apartment is becoming more like home. Most of the boxes are out of the way, almost everything has found its place, and we've hung many of our pictures and paintings-that's what has really made it feel special. I've finally set up her beautiful nursery set...I just wish there was something more for the walls. Hopefully a drink filled apartment warming party will be sometime in the future!

I will post pictures later in the week. I'm having some software difficulties with my PC. That's all for now...

I'm back!

Ok, so it's been a while...and a lot has gone on! But I'm back and at the urging of family and friends who want to know what's going on and see frequent pics of our new addition I am making a promise to blog at least once a week. Hold me to it!

First and foremost our big announcement...our little peanut, Kaname Davin Walls was born February 4, 2008 at 3:51pm weighing 7lbs. 1oz. and measuring 19.5 inches long. She is an absolute joy and she changes everyday. She is 7-weeks old today, time flies. I go back to work next Monday 3/31 and she will start daycare :(. I am excited to get back to work and adult life but I will miss those new little things she does everyday. We are very confident in our daycare choice, Lil' Einsteins in Bear , DE. Miss Kaylen goes there and she's turned out ok (lol).

Kaname holds her head up pretty well now and she is starting to smile and make more noise. I'm anxious to see her do more and more and be able to interact with us a little better. She's not quite as laid back as I'd hoped but her fussiness gives her more character. I will post new pics as often as I can.

We've also moved to a new apartment in Elkton, MD. We love our new place! I do have to share a little story about how tv services in Elkton stink. So originally we went with Comcast because well we've always had Comcast and never had any problems plus we like our cable internet. It gets hooked up and there are a few things missing...no HD, no ON Demand, no STYLE network (what ever would I do without that), and no NHL Center Ice. You're kidding right...nope, the Comcast lady confirmed that Elkton does not offer any of these services. Ok then...on to DISH network. Many more options but: 1) our installation that we had moved to Friday never got processed and it was moved to Saturday (24 more hours without TV-yikes, what to do!) 2) on Saturday the technician was an hour late and he was here for 4.5 hours in order to get it working properly 3) No NHL Center Ice package that we had ordered 4) it took 3 more phone calls to get the NHL Center Ice package functioning 5) we still can't get freakin' Flyers games because we're close enough to Philly that they're blacked out but just far enough from Philly that we can't get local Philadelphia sports...what the !@#$? Just what are we supposed to do now without access to Flyers Hockey? I'm going to have a crazy man on my hands. We had to listed to last night's game on 610 WIP over the internet...just not the same.

Some Congratulations to pass on:

Zach- yeah new job!
Metty & Ward welcome a new baby girl Elyse Sophia Mesick!

That's all for now folks...check back soon!!

10 Fingers and 10 Toes

First off...a BIG thank you out to everyone who helped with and came to our amazing baby shower at the Doubletree Hotel on Dec. 1! A special thanks to my Mom, Mom Walls, Jaclyn, & Val for all the time, love, and hard work you put in to it. Once I get some pictures I will post them for all to see. Kaname is going to be one well dressed little girl who will start out in this world with everything she could ever need. Thanks!!

On Dec. 7, I had a 3D Ultrasound done. I got a good deal and did it as a surprise for Daddy and the rest of the family. It was a wonderful experience! She actually looks like a baby, with 10 fingers and 10 toes as you can see. I got to watch her move all around, suck her thumb, and she even stuck her tongue out at me.

And Kaname is definitely a little girl!!! If you want to see more pictures or some video just let me know. I'll be happy to share it with you.
As most of you already know we recently found out that due to the fact that my placenta is still very low I am currently preparing to have a c-section. It has been scheduled for January 24, 2008 at 11:30am. I am a little disappointed but we'll do whatever is best for my health and for the health of little Kaname.

Excitement and anxiousness are the emotions that I find myself overwhelmed with. We can't wait to meet our little girl!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah (a little late), and a Happy New Year to all!

P.S. Logan Benjamin Spano, my cousin's baby, was born Sunday December 9, 2007 @ 8:36am. He was 9 lbs. 10 oz. and 21 inches long. Congrats Kris & Nick!

P.P.S. Thank you for all of the love and support as we deal with the loss of our little man, Davinci. We miss him terribly!
